Valerio, cafe manager, Lisanna Cuccini and Ashley. Valerio and Angela met us at the Domodossola train station for the beginning of our Italian advanture.
As we drove around these winding, narrow roads, Valerio's left hand would be on the steering wheel and he would be talking with his right hand. When we came to a sharp turn he would toot the horn.
The people in the higher communes would come down the mountain, on the right side, on a narrow mule path, cross the narrow bridge and continue down the left side of the mountain to Varzo or Domodossola.
This little chapel was first built in the mid-1600s. It was refurbished in the mid-1800s.
The men who contributed money or work are commemorated on a plaque. The names carved and inlaid in the two pews below are names in our Marzo family
They had fountains all over Italy. We would fill up our water bottles with this refreshingly cold water and go on our way again.
